Georgia extensions
Every state's rule in one table: which states accept the federal extension in 2026.
| Does Georgia accept the federal extension? | Yes. A federal extension is honored; no state form. |
|---|---|
| State extension form | Form IT-303 |
| Original due date | April 15, 2026 |
| Extended due date | October 15, 2026 |
| Payment | Still due April 15, 2026. The extension is to file, not to pay. The extension does not extend the date for paying the tax; pay by the original due date to avoid late-payment penalty and interest. |
| How to get it | If you have a federal extension, attach a copy of Form 4868 or the IRS confirmation letter to the Georgia return; file Form IT-303 only if you did not get a federal extension. |
Extension payments can be made with Form IT-560 or through the Georgia Tax Center.
