What LucaLedger replaces
Practice-management tools organize your work but don't do it. Tax engines prepare returns but don't keep books. Bookkeeping tools keep books but don't prepare returns. LucaLedger is the one platform that does the actual accounting and tax work, and the workflow and portal around it. The comparisons below are honest: each one names where the other tool is genuinely the better choice, too.

Frequently asked questions
What does LucaLedger replace?
For most firms: the tax-preparation engine, QuickBooks (or it syncs with it), the practice-management/workflow tool, the client portal, engagement letters and e-signatures, and tax-planning software, consolidated into one platform.
What doesn't LucaLedger replace?
A few specialist tools. LucaLedger doesn't do IRS tax resolution or transcript automation, a tool like Canopy still leads there. E-filing moves inside LucaLedger in November 2026; until then you file through your existing e-file software.
Does LucaLedger work with QuickBooks?
Yes, two-way. Keep clients on QuickBooks and work in LucaLedger, or replace it. No forced migration.
Is LucaLedger SOC 2 compliant?
LucaLedger is SOC 2 ready, controls and evidence are in place, with encryption in transit and at rest and row-level isolation.
